| The church is 30 feet by 16 feet, and is built of fibro cement, making it ant-proof. The wood in between is a rich dark brown, which shows off well with the white cement. The b!ocks are concrete. The inside is able to seat 100 people, and has forms. There is a very pretty altar, nicely carved, with a brass cross on it, the gift of a lady in England. The walls are coloured a light blue. They have no pulpit us yet.They have a church bell, the gift of Messrs. Burns, Philp and Co. The .church cost £150, and tliis was collected by the natives. It was built by a Brisbane firm, and put tpgether bu the natives. (DM 20 Oct 1913) |
