Definition of a religious place

A religious place is defined as a dedicated place for worship or sacred activities that is, or was, publicly accessible. The places that are private chapels or not publicly accessible are not included. Places where services of worship are held in halls, community centres, homes or schools are not included as they are not exclusviely used for sacred activities.

When a religious place has been sold and used by a different faith or denomination, a new entry is created.

A new record is created when a new building is constructed on the same site or moved from a different site.
