| Church relocated from Mungana The new church, built in the Gothic style, with a high-pitched red gable roof, is painted externally a rich brown, with its Gothic windows and fascias picked out in white. White crosses surmount the roof and the highest point of the distinctive porch. A church bell completes a very fine addition to the architecture of Mt. Garnet, and is a credit to the builder, Mr. Moss Collins. It is worthy of note that the open ing of the new church constitutes a record in the Vicariate of Cooktown insomuch as it was opened free of debt. (Cairns Post 7 Oct 1939) |
