| Opened 20 June 1954. Longreach Leader description. The new Church of the Sacred Heart in Barcaldine has been designed to overcome tropical conditions of the greater part of the year. On concrete foundations, walls are of timber, with pillars of concrete. Verandahs running along the outside assist with shade and coolness in summer and will accommodate overflow congregations. Grace and svmetry are the key notes of the interior with Church furniture in Queensland maple. Walls and ceilings are in plaster In cream and white. |
