'I saw no place erected for Christian worship, and was thinking go fhtis when a triangular flag on a lofty pole, whereon were wrttien some Chinese charatacters, gave evidence of a Buddist temple. On entering the shrine, I found an old man offering up sacrifices and consulting his oracle. The Chinese who presided over the temple and officated is Dr. Kun Chong.' (Qlder 2 Oct 1874) Sold for £25 |
